Year 2 Maths KS1

After you have completed Year 1 maths, you will progress into Year 2 still studying Key Stage 1 mathematics. Most of Year 2 maths is used to ensure that you have remembered and have good knowledge of all the basic foundations you learned previously. However, you will now start to use more difficult calculations, using numbers up to 100, so you will be expected to subtract, add and multiply up to 100. In addition to this, you will be now introduced to fractions and learn how to use fractions such as ½, ¼ and 1/8 to describe part of a whole and parts of a group or collection. Towards the end of Key Stage 1 your learning will become more complex as you start to learn about 3D shapes and you are expected to recognise and name prisms according to spatial properties as well as using data analysis skills to create bar charts and pictograms. This will prepare you to move into Key Stage 2 Maths.
